Grimstad, July 1959. Visit Nørholmen seven years later: On overgrown paths. On August 4, 1959, it is 100 years since the author Knut Hamsun was born. At Nørholmen at Grimstad, today Hamsun's widow and son live with family. The place is open to tourists, and a hard -needed renovation is underway. The state has allocated NOK 60,000 for renovation of the poet's home. The picture: Nørholmen hears 180 acres of land. Knut Hamsun operated with a large deficit. His son Arild has planted forests on part of the worst soil. On the edge of the forest t.v. lies Hamsun's poet room. Here the grandson Esben runs the cows home from pasture.
