The London Victory Celebrations of 1946 were British Commonwealth, Empire and Allied victory celebrations held after the defeat of Nazi Germany and Japan in World War II. The celebrations took place in London on 8 June 1946. On the royal dais in the Mall before the Victory Parade: British Prime Minister Clement Attlee (1883-1967), left; Ex Prime Minister of Great Britain Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965); the Canadian Prime Minister William Mackenzie King (1874-1950) and South African statesman General Jan Christiaan Smuts (1870-1950, right). Sir Winston Spencer-Churchill (1874-1965) British politician, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom 1940-45 & 1951-55.
