Huaorani tribe in Ecuador - Coca, Orellana province in Ecuador, going down through the Chiripuno River, we find the oneno commune. This is one of the most representative aboriginal ethnical groups of Ecuador, the Huaraoni. Recognized mainly due to their warrior image, the Huao, battle the fieriest battle of them all, the preservation of their culture in a territory everyday further invaded by the western commercial pretensions. The illegal cutting of trees, the unscrupulous petroleum exploitation, the inter-ethnic confrontations and the corrupt proceedings of some of their leaders, have endangered the Huao habitat during this century, in a geographic zone where the only things that do not lack are the Coca Cola and Pilsener beer companies. - 2006.
