Description
From Athens, via Italy, the Olympic flame arrived in Switzerland in July 1948. The handover took place in the border town of Gondo on the Simplon Pass. Via Brig, Lausanne and Geneva, the Olympic symbol is passed on to France on the western border. In Lausanne, at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, the Baron Marie de Coubertin, widow of Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games, is waiting for the arrival of the runners with the torch with the Olympic fire
