In Lausanne, on 15 June 1944, the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) began with the laying of a wreath and speeches in the cemetery near the tomb of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement. Guests of honour and the widow of Pierre de Coubertin, centre, listen to the speeches in the Bois de Vaux cemetery. On the left is Jules-Henri Addor, President of the City of Lausanne, next to him Marcel Henninger, President of the Swiss Olympic Committee.
