Image description

Central Station opened in 1850 by Queen Victoria. The architect John Dobson painted this w/c to show what he hoped the building would look like. In the final version, the columns were replaced with low-relief pilasters. The large and imposing building was part of the transformation of the centre of Newcastle in a classically influenced architectural style.
