made for King Edward I in 1300-01; every sovereign has been crowned in it since Edward II in 1307; containing the Stone of Scone, used by Scottish monarchs at their coronation, captured in 1296 by Edward I and taken as spoils of war to England; also known as the Stone of Destiny and according to legends previously either Jacob's Pillow Stone (Genesis 28:10-22) or brought from Ireland; returned to Scotland in 1996; will return to Westminster Abbey for future coronation ceremonies; illustration from the series of Churchman cigarette cards produced for the coronation of George VI;
