On 15 June 1944, in Lausanne, the 50th anniversary celebrations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) began with a wreath-laying ceremony and speeches in the cemetery at the tomb of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement. Guests of honour and the widow of Pierre de Coubertin, front row, centre, listen to the speeches at the Bois de Vaux cemetery. Next to Weibel stands Jules-Henri Addor, President of the City of Lausanne, next to him Marcel Henninger, President of the Swiss Olympic Committee.
