Great Hall built in 12th century; Court rebuilt in 1593 replacing a 15th century medieval building then remodelled in the 19th century to resemble a moated Elizabethan home; ancestral home of the Lygon family whose eldest son took the title of Earl Beauchamp; the original manor house was extensively rebuilt 1863-88; the chapel was built by Philip Charles Hardwick (1822-92) and decorated in Arts and Crafts style by a group of Birmingham artists and craftsmen; Evelyn Waugh was a frequent visitor and the Beauchamp family and Madresfield Court were the inspiration for Brideshead Revisited;
