It has now been a year since we launched Bridgeman Studio – our new service dedicated to all of our contemporary artists at Bridgeman - and it has really flown by!
What we’ve been up to
It has been a very busy year, which has seen us not only launch the new Studio website and ‘self-service image ingestor’ but also create and develop a number of completely new services for our artists.
We have been busily working with our IT team to develop a Student Subscription for artists who are under 25 and in full time education and launched the Studio Artist Blog where artists can write and share their stories and images. We also developed our Artist Reporting tool, which displays dynamic graphs and statistic on sales and image searches.

Bridgeman Commission
Most recently, we have launched our Studio Commission service which we are incredibly excited by and means we can now work directly with our artists and clients to develop commission projects, where the artist creates a work to be used for a specific licensing project.

New Faces
We are delighted that so many new faces have joined our existing contemporary artists, all of whom have been incredibly receptive to the concept of Bridgeman Studio. One year on we now have 130 artists on the Studio site and nearly 10,000 images, which is testament to the industrious nature of all of our artists and a really positive reflection on how Studio is constantly growing and evolving within the Bridgeman family.

Success Stories
Our first year has seen many success stories for our artists, including book covers for artists Didier Gaillard and Rebecca Campbell, beautiful calendars showcasing the work of Simon Fletcher and a fantastic commission for Mark Adlington, who was asked to illustrate the centenary edition of Gavin Maxwell’s autobiography ‘Ring of Bright Water’. We have also licensed the work of one of our Studio artists, Louisa Hereford, to the Cruise Liner Fred Olsen, which just goes to highlight the breadth and range of the licensing opportunities we offer our artists.

Our Search for Contemporary Talent
We are currently putting the finishing touches to the details for our second annual Bridgeman Studio Award, launching very soon, and look forward to finding even more new and talented artists and designers to join the ranks at Bridgeman Studio!
What better way to sum up our first year of Bridgeman Studio than by talking to Katie Edwards (winner of our first Studio Award 2014) to find out what the Studio experience has been like for her.

Katie Edwards was the winner of our first Bridgeman Studio Award in association with Creative Review. Katie won a free year’s subscription to Bridgeman Studio for image licensing. Over the last few months alone, her images have been used on book covers in the Netherlands, an Italian corporate publication as well as prints bought through our Print-on-Demand partner, Art.com.
Below, Katie shares some thoughts about her first year with Bridgeman Studio and her hopes for the next;
1. What have you enjoyed most about Bridgeman Studio so far?
It’s been great having my illustrations available worldwide for licensing, and very exciting to see my art being used over such a range of applications.
2. What are your hopes for year two? Where would you most like to see your work featured?
It would be great to see some big name brands using my illustrations and to have them featured on some products would be great.
3. What would you say to artists and illustrators entering the 2nd Bridgeman Studio award?
The Bridgeman Studio award is a great opportunity to open many doors, I highly recommend entering. Bridgeman studio is a great company to work with.
