Bio

I'm a collage artist with a passion for paper. I use tissue, wallpaper, wrapping paper and pages of magazines to create my art. I've always been drawn to paper but it took me a while to realise that I could use it as my medium. I've made art since childhood and attended endless art/drawing/painting classes, took two art A levels and a part time foundation course. It was after attending a portrait painting course at Central St Martins that everything changed. My tutor said the magical words: 'You are so talented, you should go to art school. Go and see the head of painting at City & Guilds of London Art School and tell him I sent you.' I went; three months later I was enrolled as an art student. I loved the experience. I went their to learn how to paint in oils but paper kept creeping into my work. By the time of my final show my paintings of shop keepers in my neighbourhood sported a mix of oil and paper collage. After graduation I continued my studio work and concentrated more on paper. I now have a studio at home. I take commissions for paper portraits (www.paperface.co.uk) and I also create designs for paper lampshades (www.papershades.co.uk).
