Image description

The 24-year-old Kingdome stands in its final moments before crumbling and disappearing in a cloud of dust after being imploded with explosives, forever changing the Seattle skyline, March 26. The indoor stadium was home to the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks until Seahawks owner Paul Allen and his company First and Goal decided to destroy the aging dome and replace it with an outdoor soccer and football stadium scheduled to open 2002. The new stadium will be built in the same location as the Kingdome. This is the view of the Kingdome before implosion as seen from Safeco Field which is the new home for the Seattle Mariners. apb/Photo by Anthony P. APB/BM
