RESISTANCE “We gave our life for freedom” - Stele in memory of the victims of the massacred perpetrated by the Nazi occupying forces fleeing Rome. In La Storta, on June 4, 1944, 14 prisoners taken from via Tasso were killed, mainly belonging to the Matteotti partisan brigade and the Clandestine Military Front: Eugenio Arrighi ( Lieutenant F.A.), Frejdrik Borian (engineer), Alfeo Brandimarte (Major A.N.), Bruno Buozzi (Member of Parliament), Luigi Castellani (professor), Vincenzo Conversi (accountant), Libero De Angelis (mechanic), Edmondo Di Pillo (engineer), Piero Dodi (cavalry general), Lino Eramo (lawyer), Alberto Pennacchi (printer), Enrico Sorrentino (Colonel F.A.), Saverio Tunetti (teacher). The stele does not include the name of Gabor Adler, who remained anonymous for a long time and finally identified in 2007 as a Hungarian volunteer enlisted in the British intelligence service under the name of captain “John Armstrong"' (aka “Gabriele Bianchi”) sent to Rome on espionage mission.
