Image description

Garand Mk 1 .30 inch self-loading rifle, 1939-1945. This was the standard rifle for US infantrymen, and the first self-loading rifle to be adopted by any army as its standard weapon. It was loaded using an eight round clip; single rounds could not be loaded. Over five million of these rifles were produced during and immediately after World War Two (1939-1945).
