EGYPTIAN DOCTOR APPLIES HOLY MEDICINE, 2003-11-01 (photo)

Dr. Hany El-Ghazawy, who got his degree in alternative medicine from  Germany, applies Hejama to a patient at his clinic in Cairo, November  1, 2003. Hejama is Cupping and Letting certain points of the human body  by placing a cup and evacuating the air drawing blood to the area then  tiny incisions are made, the cup is repositioned on the area to extract  blood out of the body. Hejama which some say goes back to the Chinese  and Pharaonic civilizations is cited several times in Islam's prophet  Mohamed's sayings and has increased in mainly-Muslim Egypt, not only  because people became more inclined to perform the Prophet's Sunna  (methods) but also because it is cheap and gives hope to cases that  traditional medicine has failed.
