Bridgeman celebrates the life and legacy of our talented represented artist.
"Jerzy Marek was a confident artist with a clear, defined sense of style. Transcending the boundaries of naïve and folk art, he expertly captured the most domestic settings with a vivid imagination. Likewise, the wildest circus and the bloodiest of boxing battles were painted in a gentle wit and intimate manner.
Jerzy’s art was a constant favourite with our clients, with many choosing to license his work year after year." - Lucy Innes Williams, Bridgeman Artists & Copyright
In Memoriam Born in Poland in 1925, Jerzy Marek moved to London in 1948 after serving in the British Army during WWII. In 1983, he left his job as a civil engineer to pursue a full-time artistic career. He spent much of his leisure time nurturing the talent of other self-taught painters, including his mother-in-law and popular Bridgeman-represented artist Margaret Baird (1891-1979). |
