Penguin Classics: Shakespeare book covers

Ahead of the 400th anniversary celebrations of Shakespeare in 2016, Penguin have brought out authoritative editions of Shakespeare’s plays into the Penguin Classics livery for the first time, with fresh and attractive new cover images.

Ever since Penguin published its first paperback in 1935, its covers have had a massive influence on design. Bridgeman is thrilled to have provided artwork for 23 of the Shakespeare titles that have been re-covered, a small sample of which can be seen below.

Many of the images chosen are bold and modern, appealing to young and old audiences. Click on the visuals below to see the artworks in their entirety on the Bridgeman website.

Penguin Classics is an imprint published by Penguin Books, a subsidiary of Pearson PLC. They are published in varying editions throughout the world including in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China and South Africa.
