From New York to Berlin, the Bridgeman team have attended and even hosted plenty of exciting and diverse international trade shows and workshops over the past month. Here is a summary of the events and our personal highlights. If you were unable to make it this year, make sure that you don't miss out next time!
8th - 9th June, New York
The US team had a wonderful time at this international meeting point for creative services and loved meeting so many prospective clients from a wide range of fields, particularly freelance art buyers. It inspired us to do even more work with the latter, as the archive would truly be an excellent resource for them.
'LE BOOK has curated the most talented visual communicators in the world across all categories in all mediums. I look forward to the show every year as it's a chance to see and be surprised by the convergence of art and technology.'
- Dave Arnold, Executive Creative Director, PEREIRA & O'DELL
9th June, New York
Bridgeman's US President, Ed Whitley (also President of ACSIL) and our Business Director for footage, Helen Higbee had a great day at the second annual ACSIL Footage Expo, set in a stunning venue at the Prince George's ballroom. It is where all of the world’s essential footage organisations connect with the visionaries and top players in media and indeed we made some fantastic contacts; it was also good to see more and more contacts from the publishing sector present! In general we saw evidence of a new customer base empowered by digital technologies; they have already contributed to significant growth in the footage business in the last five years - something we are very excited about.
House of Dogs (Lifestyle Mit Hund)
11th - 12th June, Berlin
Bridgeman's Berlin team were thrilled to make their debut appearance at this trade show entirely dedicated to dogs, set in a superb venue at Postbahnhof Berlin. Our very own Bridgeman Studio artist Sally Muir did an amazing job at the stand; her various sketched dog portraits went down a treat with both people and their pooches.
Overall, the team (including the Bridgeman Berlin office dogs Lulu and Debbie) thoroughly enjoyed the weekend out of the office while meeting future clients and sharing all the marvellous dog images from the archive.
20th - 23rd June, La Rochelle, France
We weren't quite accustomed to the 33C heat that La Rochelle boasted during the course of the 27th Sunnyside of the Doc, but it certainly made a great change from the dreary British summer! Holly Webster (Footage Manager) and Paula Soares (Sales Manager for Bridgeman's Paris office) had a fantastic time talking to new and old clients at the footage conference and there are now some fresh and exciting international projects on the horizon. The event's Virtual Reality (VR) headset corner also proved to be particularly popular...
22nd June, London
To celebrate Finnish artist Varpu Kronholm's work becoming available for licensing via Bridgeman Studio, we asked the artist to lead a screenprinting workshop at Cass Art's flagship store in Islington for clients in the creative industries.
It was a very fun evening of drinks, chats and a lot of paint! The clients produced some beautiful results with the help of Varpu and the Bridgeman team got stuck in as well. We were all really impressed with the animal pattern designs, which will make a lovely addition to the home and office.
