Historic New Orleans Collection An archive of more than 350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings and other artifacts, the HNOC chronicles the unique history of the American South. Of particular significance are illustrated accounts of the Battle of New Orleans, the final major battle of the War of 1812, images of the slave trade and plantation life, portraits of Andrew Jackson and examples of French Creole architecture. |

California Historical Society The California Historical Society is the first West Coast historical society to join the Bridgeman archive. The CHS was founded in 1922 by C. Templeton Crocker after multiple setbacks including fires and earthquakes, and quickly began to establish itself as one of the foremost collections of Californian antiquities, paintings and historical documents. From San Francisco's Chinatown to the region's vast natural beauty, the CHS offers a pictorial history of this unique and diverse region of the United States. |

Virginia Historical Society Almost 180 years old, the VHS is one of the preeminent historical foundations in the United States. As Britian's principal New World colony, as well as the state with the largest slave and later, free black population, Virginia has been at the center of significant, if turbulent historical events. The VHS has an extensive collection of colonial portraits, engravings of early Native Americans, intricate articles of metalwork and military paraphernalia and maps charting the arrival of the first explorers. |
