The Art of National Geographic

For more than a century, the National Geographic Society's illustrators have taken readers to places beyond the reach of the camera's lens.

Bridgeman is excited to announce a new partnership with the National Geographic Image Collection.

For more than a century, the National Geographic Society's illustrators have taken readers to places beyond the reach of the camera's lens, enigmatically re-imagining the daily life of our early ancestors and detailing the rich mysteries of the natural world. Hundreds of these beautiful illustrations are now available for licensing for the first time via the Bridgeman Art Library, exploring science and nature, humankind's accomplishments and conflicts, and all the wonders of the universe in a wide variety of media.

Most of the images require no additional copyright fee and are available for immediate downloading. This collection of imagery adds to an extensive selection of cultural and educational content within the library suitable for licensing for a wide range of purposes, from academic publishing to retro inspired products.

The National Geographic Society

The National Geographic Society is one of the world’s largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations. Founded in 1888 to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge,” the Society works to inspire people to care about the planet.

National Geographic magazine, the Society’s official journal, published in English and 32 local-language editions, is read by more than 35 million people each month. The National Geographic Magazine commissioned and published thousands of paintings, drawings and photography profoundly affecting the way we visualize our world.  National Geographic has funded more than 9,200 scientific research, conservation and exploration projects and supports an education programme promoting geography literacy.
