Content Used: Francois Boucher image, ‘Dauphnis and Chloe’.

We're pleased to share that leading British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has licensed the 1743 Francois Boucher artwork, Daphnis and Chloe, for use as print on bespoke running trainers in collaboration with ASICS.

We are delighted to announce that the hugely influential, global fashion brand Vivienne Westwood has released a range of striking shoe designs, as part of their one-off collaboration with the Japanese brand Asics. Bridgeman Images recently licensed the beautiful work below ‘Dauphnis and Chloe’, (also known as Shepherd watching a sleeping Shepherdess) from the Wallace Collection, which we represent for licensing.

As part of a beautiful trio of heritage trainers, featuring bold graphics and stylish details, the Hyper GEL-Lyte is the most eye-catching of the range. The Vivienne Westwood x ASICS elaborately detailed shoes stand out with a distinctive all-over print of the iconic work depicting ‘Dauphnis and Chloe’ surrounded in a romantic blue and green woodland scene.

By combining Francois Boucher’s painting of  ‘Dauphnis and Chloe’, with the unique Westwood twist to the classic 1987 Gel-Lyte ASICS style, the result is a stylish and innovative athletic shoe. The winning detail is the gleaming outsole featuring the French Rococo work on the bottom, plus an orange label that reads “CHAOS”.

These eye-catching, archive inspired trainers are bound to turn heads and make a fashion statement. For more inspiration into the beautiful Francois Boucher collection – check out this lightbox of archive gems!

Increasingly in the fashion scene, sculpture, paintings and photography are increasingly used in fashion products - a great way to increase awareness of art and draw attention to lesser-known collections.

This of course isn't our first foray into the fashion world, and it isn't our first collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. A line of products with a wearable art theme has been produced in limited editions; read more about it here.

Take a detailed look at the product range and look out for them in retailers - as of August 17th they are now available in limited numbers in stores. Available exclusively from Vivienne Westwood and ASICS stores worldwide and at www.viviennewestwood.com and www.asics.com.
